Shark Cage Diving Experience
Shark cage diving trips start at the White Shark Projects headquarters in Kleinbaai, where guests are welcomed with a continental breakfast and a safety briefing. Guests are then transported to the harbour, where the Shark Team vessel awaits.
Once anchored in shark-active waters near Shark Alley, the adventure begins. The crew starts with ethical chumming to attract sharks without feeding or harming them. A floating steel cage is attached to the side of the boat, where 4–6 divers at a time enter the cage wearing wetsuits and masks provided by the crew.
Shark cage diving in Gansbaai,
offers one of the most thrilling and unforgettable marine experiences on Earth. Just two hours from Cape Town, you’ll board a custom-built dive vessel and head into the heart of shark territory, where Great White Sharks and Bronze Whalers patrol the deep blue. No scuba experience is required – the cage floats on the surface, and divers are never more than half a meter below the water.
Sharks & Marine Life Encountered
During a typical trip, guests may see:
Great White Sharks – surface feeders often visible from the boat and cage
Bronze Whaler (Copper) Sharks – fast, sleek sharks frequently seen in Gansbaai
Cow Sharks – prehistoric-looking bottom dwellers
Cape Fur Seals – curious and playful around Dyer Island
Stingrays and seabirds
Sharks are viewed both from the cage and topside on deck, where guests often witness thrilling surface activity such as breaching or spy-hopping.
