Welcome to Darling on the West Coast!

Darling landscape

Perfectly positioned between the beach of Yzerfontein and the art and olive groves of Riebeek Valley, Darling is a vibrant little town with a blend of old and new. Easily accessible along the R27 on the West Coast, follow the R315 through hills of vineyards with spectacular wildflowers blooming.

An important ingredient to Darling’s success is the locals. Each and every person is committed to the success of Darling, making it the ideal small-town getaway destination, offering myriad activities, both in the town and surrounds. Spending a day at the beach in nearby Yzerfontein, buy olive products, browse the antique and collectable shops or visit the fascinating craft and gift stores scattered around town. Then enjoy a cup of coffee on the ‘stoep’ of a coffee shop or tuck into a delicious meal at any of the local restaurants is a must before you head out to explore the flowers in bloom.

Unlock your thirst!

Darling brew

Taste the local craft beer, Darling Brew, a product of Africa’s first carbon-neutral brewery! In 2016, Darling Brew released Africa’s first carbon-neutral beer, Blood Serpent, that was seen as a catalyst within the African beer industry.

In October 2007 they left home on a trip into Africa, with the idea to see as much wildlife as possible, their return date undecided. Unexpectedly 3 days into the trip they met a friend and was inspired by the concept of a microbrewery. The further north they travelled and the hotter it got, the realisation of their beer in a big bottle was decided!

But it's time for a new adventure - Darling Brew is going digital!

Darling oh, Darling!

Darling Evita

Pieter Dirk Uys created a character in his weekly Sunday Times column out of whose mouth the political rumours/facts dripped like warm honey. : She” was the wife of a Nationalist MP, so she knew all the ins and outs. For three years she appeared about once a month, informing the nation of the stench under the cloak of respectability and no one stopped her (him). Someone even gave her a name: “The Evita of Pretoria”.

When he created his one‑man show Adapt or Dye in April 1982, he gave this creature a physical reality C eyelash, high heels and handbag C and she has never looked back! The public wanted more of her, all the time, right from the start and “Tannie Evita” stepped out of the chorus line and took off into folklore, leaving behind the many other characters he did in his shows.

Evita travelled the world but found her forever home in the iconic theatre on Evita se Perron in Darling.
